What Happens at Your First Aesthetic Consultation in Ascot
Booking your first aesthetic consultation can feel like a big step, especially if you have never had Botox, dermal fillers, skin boosters or any other treatment before. At Ascot Skin and Body Clinic in Berkshire, every new patient starts with a full and unhurried consultation, because a good treatment plan can only come from properly understanding your skin, your medical history and what you actually want to achieve. Here is exactly what happens when you come in for your first appointment in Ascot.
The first part of your consultation is simply a conversation. I will ask about your medical history, any medications you are taking, previous treatments you have had anywhere else, allergies, and whether you have any conditions that might affect what we can safely offer you. This is not a formality. Knowing your full history is what allows me to recommend treatments that suit your skin and your circumstances, rather than a generic package that ignores them.
Next comes a proper skin and facial assessment. I look closely at your skin quality, texture, hydration and tone, as well as the deeper structure of your face, including bone support, fat distribution and how your muscles move when you smile, frown or talk. This is where my background in facial anatomy really comes into its own. Ageing rarely happens in just one place, so rather than fixating on a single line or fold, I assess the whole face as a connected system before suggesting anything.
Then we talk about you. What bothers you when you look in the mirror. What you want to feel more confident about. Whether you are chasing a subtle, natural refresh or something more noticeable. There is no pressure and no script. Some patients come in with a very clear idea of the treatment they want, such as Botox or a skin booster like Profhilo, and others simply know they want to look fresher and are not sure where to start. Both are completely normal, and part of my job is helping you work out what will actually make a difference.
Once I understand your goals, I will talk you through the options that genuinely apply to you, including what each treatment involves, realistic results, how long they tend to last, any downtime, and cost. I will always tell you honestly if I think a treatment is not right for you, or if a simpler option would achieve the same result. You are never under any obligation to book anything on the day. A consultation is a chance for us both to decide whether we are the right fit, not a sales appointment.
If we agree on a plan and you are ready to go ahead, some treatments can be carried out during that same visit, while others may need a patch test or a short cooling off period first, depending on what is involved. I will also cover aftercare in detail, what to expect over the following days, and when to contact me if you have any questions once you leave the clinic.
Bring a list of questions if that helps you feel prepared, and do not worry about asking something you think sounds obvious. Whether this is your very first aesthetic treatment or you are simply looking for a practitioner in Ascot or Berkshire who takes the time to explain things properly, my aim is for you to leave your consultation feeling informed, unrushed and confident in the plan we have made together.
